A Community Still in Need

A Century Strong,

As we celebrate 100 years of service, we also face an urgent reality. More than 75% of Loretto’s residents rely on Medicaid as their primary payment source. While we proudly serve everyone regardless of their ability to pay, this commitment comes with a significant challenge: Medicaid reimbursement covers only 75-80% of the actual cost of care.

While Loretto has grown stronger, Central New York’s senior care landscape has grown more fragile. Fourteen facilities have closed in recent years, leaving thousands of families with fewer options.

Government reimbursements fall short of the actual cost of quality care. Additional resources are needed to care for aging buildings, update equipment, and build financial reserves needed to respond when emergencies arise.

The Next 100 Years Begin Now

In 2025, New York State’s population aged 60 and older is among the highest in the nation, at 4.8 million, projected to rise to 5.3 million by 2030, according to 2025 New York State’s Master Plan for Aging. Of those individuals, nearly 70% are expected to need long-term care.

This is why supporting our Mission in Motion is so critical. When you give to The Loretto Foundation, you are helping Loretto overcome unprecedented financial challenges to continue to care for others.

Our survival is not guaranteed. Without greater support from the community, the system we hold together will not withstand the pressures ahead. Our history proves that Loretto leads in crisis, and now we face a new one. We ask you to contribute in a meaningful way to this campaign, to ensure Loretto can be here for the next 100 years.

Care That Lifts Families One Future at a Time

Deondre Days, a single father, wanted to start a career in health care but also needed to support his daughter. Since he couldn’t attend school full-time, a friend suggested Loretto’s paid CNA training program, which let him earn wages to support his family while getting his certification. Now, he plans to continue his education to become an LPN and, eventually, a registered nurse.

“Loretto’s CNA program allowed me to go back to school while continuing to provide for my daughter.”
